Flashback Series

Going through my old photos, I found this beauty from Spring 2017, taken at St Albans.

There are some lovely period properties over at St Albans and this one didn't disappoint. Set into a hill, the front door opens into the lounge reception area, which is the middle floor. The basement is the kitchen, with that opening into the back garden.

I was pleased with two photos here, firstly the reception which I had lit on both staircases. Including underneath so there's no dark areas. I think I used all of my six flashes on this image as it was a large space.

My second favourite is down in the basement kitchen, the log burner has sunlight streaming in through the open back door. This is of course impossible due to the sun being at the front of the house and this was at the back. I just thought those doors needed to have sun coming through them, hitting that lovely floor. So light stand and flash outside and this is one of the first times I added fake sunlight.

Technically these days I would have removed the car from next door and made sure the kitchen was better exposed, but I think these photos hold up.
